Despite the fact the Qo'acyin has awoken, the party decides the strength they gain from a night's rest outweighs the strength she will gain from the same amount of time. Thus, they rest in their sealed tomb until the next “morning”.

On September 10th, they leave Einerk behind and go to face Qo'acyin. They find her fortress guarded by a squadron of Magma Elemental guardians. However, they pierce past them and quickly breach her formidable defenses. Eventually, she negotiates for her freedom and the party assents. In exchange, she turns over the Magma crystal and all of her possessions (though she is allowed to keep an edited version of her spellbook).

With the resolution of the Long Deep quest, however, comes an unexpected release of pent-up emotions within the party. Pavo, convinced that the others gave away too much in their negotiations with Qo'acyin, leaves, taking the Frost Crystal with him.

Ursa, expecting the sorceress to return to her evil ways, vows to stay with her in order to watch and, perhaps, influence her. She agrees and the two of them teleport away (ostensibly into Baka, her homeland).

Finally, Drusilia, who knew the party only through her association with Pavo, follows the dwarf back towards Clangdun.
