(Previous Session) (Back to Voyager Index) (Next Session)

All six players in attendance:

Chris Roderick Cleric/4
Dave Aramil Ranger/4
Jim Roget Fighter/4
Ken Vincent Rogue/3, Ranger/1
Kurt Dhersion Bard/4
Val Kesi Monk/4

After the battle with the Wyvern on March 12, 1108, the party rests and recuperates in the village of Koko. The villagers are friendly and supportive and the shaman, Kakawangwa, assists Roderick in treating the wounded and poisoned.

The initial guess was that Roget's recovery would take a week. During that week, the village warrior Nootau sends three runners out to the nearby villages - one back to Adoette, and two others NW to the villages of Jahi and Ulan. They are instructed to solicit help in a possible campaign against the Lomasi and their leader, the Rain King.

At the end of the week, the runners sent to Adoette and Jahi have returned with mixed results. The people of Adoette are eager to exact revenge on the Rain King, but those in Jahi are reluctant and unconvinced. The runner sent to Ulan has not returned - and while the village is farther out, it is still considered troubling.

On March 20, Roget claims to be ready, but passes out when the group attempts to leave. Two more days of waiting are forced on the party.

Finally, on the morning of March 22, the group sets out NW toward the village of Jahi. The village is just beyond a day's walk, and since Roget has not fully recovered, and despite the fact that it is raining steadily, they decide against pushing it and camp out that night.

The next day, they complete the distance to Jahi and remain there for the remainder of the day and that night. They learn that there is still no sign of the runner that Nootau sent to Ulan.

On March 24, while en route to the village of Ulan, the party discovers a handful of corpses along the trail. Upon closer inspection, they appear to be destroyed undead. How they got to where they are is unknown.

When they arrive at the bridge across the Manaba River, they find it in tatters. One of the large, wooden beams has been split (as if a great weight stressed it to the point of breaking), and the planks dangle uselessly from the remaining beam. While the remaining beam is sturdy enough to traverse, care must be taken to avoid falling. Additionally, the mule will have to go through the water - which means stripping it of its gear and guiding it across with ropes.

The river crossing takes some time - and while part of the group struggles to get the mule across, three Ogres hear them and attack. The party successfully dispatch the Ogres and escape the encounter without serious injury.

Shortly after the fight, the villagers of Ulan come out of the woods and introduce themselves. They had been driven from their village when the Ogres appeared - as if by magic!

Many tales of evil and woe are related to the party that night…
