2 March 1111
Left Stillsquall for Feather to see the baron. He asked the party to take a portrait to the town of Hardanger and deliver it to his cousin, Erik, the baron of the Skaalheim barony. Despite the fact that the roads are easier through Southbay, the baron dictated that the party travel overland, through the villages of Skaar and Kingsholm. His explanation that this will avoid “bandit trouble” was accepted, but not believed.

5 March 1111
Left Kingsholm. Arrived in Hardanger. Delivered the portrait. Baron Erik requested that they convey a return message – and while he indicated it is not urgent, he strongly recommended that the party return along the path they came.
6 March 1111
Spent the day in Hardanger.
7 March 1111
Left Hardanger. Arrived back in Kingsholm, where they learned that some trouble had befallen the town. When a family of locals went missing in the nearby cemetery, a pair of the towns “sentinels” went to investigate and have not returned.
8 March 1111
With the sentinels still missing, and no local “muscle” available, the town councilor (and innkeeper at the Coronet and Cabbage) offered to pay the party 50 gold pieces to investigate the cemetery.
Area 1) Wolves at the Door
Mia Desarna, the captain of the town guard, accompanied the party as far as the entrance to the cemetery, where they found the main gate open - which Mia explained was not normal.
Inside, the party discovered two bodies (the sentinels that were sent to investigate), and were attacked by a pair of Wolves and their Worg leader. They killed one of the wolves and sent the other and the Worg fleeing.
Area 2) Lower Mausoleum
Inside the ransacked mausoleum, the party discovered two corpses of recently deceased townsmen that had been animated into Zombies. Along with them, there were three Skeletal Archers, armed with magical, flaming arrows.
After the undead were destroyed, a young woman from town named Tyra was discovered trapped in a mausoleum vault. The party decided it would be best to escort her back to the town, in case the wolves returned. Once in town, they decided to buy some healing potions - having realized this expedition could become more dangerous as they go deeper into the tomb.
Area 3) Side Tomb
After finding a locked door that they were unable to open, the party doubled back to explore a side chamber protected by four flying constructs known as “Clockwork Menders”.
Area 4) The Beholder Room
The door of this room held a riddle:
MAGIC DIES, | EYE OF DEATH, | FEAR AND MIND, | FRIENDS ARE | ENEMY FRIEND |
FAST MEN | EYE OF STONE, | YOU CAN SAY, | SHY, SLEEP | PAINFUL WOUNDS |
SLOW, THE | THE KEY | WILL MOVE YOU | IN REST, | OBLIVION AIDS |
PASSAGE YOU | TO PASSAGE | AROUND IN | NEITHER POINTS | IT IS |
SEEK IS | THEY HAVEN'T | THE WRONG | TO THE PASSAGE | RUNED |
NOT BELOW. | SHOWN. | WAY. | THAT'S BEST. |
After puzzling over this riddle for awhile, they came to the conclusion that it reflected something within the room, not a means to open the door. This, along with the realization that there was no other way to go, led them to conclude that the only way in was through force – so they smashed the door in.
