Despite the grim events of the battle with the White Slaad, the party is offered assistance by two local clerics. It turns out that once the White Slaad was killed, its mind-controlling powers became well known. Now, despite the fact that strangers have fought a pitched battle with palace guards and the king is dead, the guards are forced to admit that they owe their lives to these foreigners.
The clerics manage to patch Roderick together and he, along with Dhersion, are able to revive all but the slain characters. The king's body is carefully moved into a secure chamber, while Kesi and Bigby are taken out of the palace to a safe room supplied by General Sewati.
With the king dead, authority over the palace guard is supposed to fall to general Elsu. However, as fate would have it, he is out of town, and General Sewati manages to take command. He instructs that the entire battle and especially the death of the king be kept as secret as possible. The guards grudgingly agree - even going so far as to agree not to send a runner to find Elsu.
The next day, May 12, Roderick prays to Imhotep and asks whether seeking help from Sibutco would be wise. He is given a mixed answer. Considering the situation, this is viewed as a positive endorsement. General Sewati, Aramil, and Dhersion head for Sibutco to enlist the aid of the high priestess, Ogin. It is hoped that she can revive the king and stave off the brewing war.
After carefully bypassing the Tupi that guard the borderlands, the trio arrive in Salerhanul early the next day (May 13). They find Ogin and, surprisingly, are granted an audience with her immediately. Sewati explains the situation back in Paco and Ogin - the consumate diplomat - is quick to realize that a gesture of this magnitude would go a long way towards averting a war. (It is clear from the conversation that she considers war with the Hky-you-hay would be devastating to the her people).
The group begins the trek back toward Paco, and successfully crosses the border under cover of night. Late on May 14, they make it back to Odin's palace.
While it takes a little explaining, Sewati manages to get Ogin into the chamber where Odin's body has been stored. She casts her Raise Dead spell on the king and he revives - though he is severely weak and remains bed-ridden.
After a night's rest, Ogin completes her bargain and casts Raise Dead on Kesi and Bigby, as well. According to Ogin, the two must remain bed-ridden for at least a week.
XP awarded: None, Running Total: 21,000. (18,000 for Kesi and Bigby)
