The evening of February 26th is a nice one - despite the weather.
As the party arrived in the third village (whose name they still do not know), the weather had turned quite ugly. It had been raining and there was some hail after they arrived. Despite this, the evening was rather pleasant as the villagers here are very friendly.
The next morning (February 27th), the weather hasn't improved much. The skies are partly clear, but the wind is very strong. The party discusses whether they should try to wait out the weather and eventually decide to stay in the village for another day.
During their extended stay, the party is told of the Rain King, a leader of the most prominent tribe in the crowded northern lands. Then, as they discuss this with the chief, an unusual storm cloud drifts over the village. It seems to consist of two groups of elementals fighting each other. While it is difficult to tell them apart, there does seem to be a difference between the two factions - although neither group is a pure elemental. The best guess is that they are some form of mist elementals (a border element between air and water).
Occasionally, one of the elementals breaks from the melee and swoops down to investigate the villagers. In time, though, the cloud drifts away and no harm is done. The natural storm remains through the early afternoon, though, and the party decides to stay until the next day.
Finally, on February 28th, the group bids the village farewell and gets back on the road. That day, they encounter and destroy a colony of giant centipedes. During the fight, though, Vincent is poisoned and loses 7 points of DEX. Late that day, the party arrives at a fork in the trail. One route continues north along the coast, while the other turns sharply inland. Due to the weather and lack of recent travellers, it is difficult to tell which direction is more travelled, so the group decides to continue along the coast.
As the afternoon progresses, the land to their left rises up and they find themselves between a steep cliff and the ocean. Late in the day, they stumble into a marshy area that looks difficult to cross. Scouting ahead, a giant snake is encountered, and the party decides to backtrack and camp for the night.
The next morning, March 1st, Kesi climbs the cliff to get an overview of the land ahead. She discovers that the marsh is rather small, and the party forges ahead - avoiding the snake at the same time. It is slow going for awhile, but by mid-day, the trail begins rising out of the marsh and they are back on track!
Unfortunately, they are then attacked by a manticore - a fearsome beast with the body of a lion, black dragon wings, and a vaguely human head. It is very unusual to find such a creature near human lands! While it appears the manticore is going after the mule, he finds more than he bargained for and is defeated - though the mule (and some of the party) are wounded. The group camps for the night.
