With the help of an arcane text he picked up from Thomas, the scholar, in Southbay, Heilli makes a discovery relating to the Earth Node the party discovered under the Barrow of the Forgotten King. He assembles the party to see if they can pick up the trail of the escaped grave-robber, Xeron.
Travel to Kingsholm by way of Southbay.
Area E1) Chimney's Edge
Enter tunnel under the Barrow of the Forgotten King to explore the Earth Node the party discovered earlier. Find a note hidden on body of halfling (missed earlier). It is, however, written in the Yuan-Ti script so the party cannot decipher it.
Freyrik returns to the town of Kingsholm and manages to purchase a “Comprehend Languages” scroll. With it, they learn what the scroll says:
Fadheela, I have been delayed. My servants carry the king’s bones and all the items of his champions that I could find. Merthúvial I cannot locate. I shall spend a bit more time trying to find it, but I am sending these on so our rendezvous is not compromised. Please give the Vanguard my regards. I shall be along shortly. -Xeron
Area E3) Giant Cockroach Wardens
Descend into earth node and fight giant cockroaches.
After attuning to the node overnight, Heilli and Freyrik both sense they can activate it. Freyrik does so and the party is transported to the Underdark!
Area G1) Grotto Node
Meet Bruthwol Coalhauler, a Duergar merchant. He directs them to the “Oceanbridge”, which will take them to the city of “Pedestal”.
Area G6) Bridge Askew
Fight four Skum and their mysterious psionic-using underwater master (who flees when the Skum are killed).
Area P1) South Gate
At the entrance to the near-ruined city, they encounter a group of Kuo-Toas. After defeating them, the party uncovers a stash of treasure and heads into the city.
Area P2) Dripstone Inn
Meet the information trader, Es Sarch, who runs the Dripstone Inn. He offers to help them locate “Fadheela” if they will perform two tasks for him. The party agrees.
