Note: This city is documented in detail in chapter 4 of the Dungeon Masters Guide II (pages 119-152). While it is unlikely I will use any of the “Adventure Hooks” described in that chapter, it should nevertheless be avoided if you are a player character in my campaign.
Additional note: This city was first mentioned (though not detailed) in the module “U1: The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh”. I made good use of that module back in the summer of 1982 with the Summer Campaign.
Saltmarsh is the newest of the large cities in Southern Rota, having expanded over the last few years by a steady influx of refugees from the recent wars.
As of 1111, it is a “Large Town”, with an adult population of 3,850 and a gold piece limit of 3,000. Unlike the other cities in Southern Rota, Saltmarsh has managed to keep its economy intact – despite (or perhaps because of) the refugees. Native Rotans in nearby towns and cities often resent the success of Saltmarsh and many secretly blame them for their own town's economic woes.
