Irat is the southern-most city in the Mosaî empire. Because of their proximity to the ostensibly lawless tribes of the Dry River and the exotic denizens of the mountains farther south, they consider themselves to be “the defenders of Mosaî”.
The city is ruled by a militaristic clergy, who encourage their flock to regularly volunteer for the local militia. While the militaristic nature of Irat remains defensive in nature, there have been rising voices among the city elders suggesting offensive actions against the southern tribes and, in some cases, against the neighboring cities in Mosaî.
