Kuriz uses his Sending Stone to respond to the party's query about The Castellan. Unfortunately, he can offer nothing specific – other than the fact that intelligent undead can sometimes be reasoned with.
The party tries to get more information from their Dwarf captive – but he, too, has little to offer.
As the Dwarf is still confused from years of being possessed by a Ghost, the party decides to release him. But he chooses to stay (at least for the time being).
The party returns to the Keep, where they discover that “Parley” banners have been placed at the main gate.
They chose to respect the parley request. Q, Barry, and Hama meet with The Castellan and his two subordinates at a table in the Inner Bailey.
The Castellan offers the party a simple deal: They leave and never return. In exchange, they may keep the wealth they “stole” during their earlier encounter.
The three offer to consider the offer and then return to the rest of the party (though Hama remains by the table).
Deciding that The Castellan needs to be stopped, the party opts to attack.
After a brief, but intense fight, The Castellan, his Advisor, and his Scribe are all destroyed and the party occupies the Fortress.
They take a short rest – during which, Tan casts Identify on the magic items taken from The Castellan and the Scribe.
They descend the stairs and discover a large natural cavern with some kind of green glowing energy source at its center, and numerous Specters floating around.
After a long, arduous combat, the glowing energy in the center (and the Specters) are destroyed.
Underneath it all, they find an oblong rock, roughly 18 inches across, with glowing green quartz infused throughout.
Tan protects himself with a Protection from Evil spell and casts Identify on the rock. He confirms that the evil of the Keep was being fueled by this rock.
They decide to wrap it up in bedrolls and take it with them.
