The team did some research on why Neanderthroid became a mindless Beast, and question him in the Oregon Metahuman Confinement Facility. The last time anyone saw him was when he was assisting in the superhero tryouts, specifically for the five team members. They show him many different pictures of people, and the only thing he ever reacts to is a picture of 99.
At the Rose City Five headquarters, everyone is shocked when all signals external to the building is cut off. The heroes investigate, and discover that it is a cone centered over the building. Inside, Quantum's hand starts moving of its own accord; it's appears to be writing something. A pen in his hand, it starts writing out these statements:
“We have little time.”
“46.00.00 N 123.20.00 W”
Quantum must stop alien incursion.“
“Earth must be protected.”
“That alien race must not learn of Earth.”
“If they escape, Earth is lost.”
The heroes unquestioningly act on the information, determining the numbers are latitude and longitude, and plan to travel to that location. The messages then stop, and signals are restored to the building.
The coordinates are just outside Birkenfeld, Oregon, a small town 45 miles away, just northwest of Vernonia. Quantum and Lady Paladin (I think) immediately fly out to that location, and the others follow in the Hummer. The two heroes first arriving locate the town, start searching through it, and find everyone in the town dead, attacked by various means. Quantum checks out the exact coordinates, and finds a landing site of some type of craft, but the craft is not currently there.
The rest of the team arrive, and their arrival is noticed by the beings responsible for the devastation: four alien warriors of the Tuulex race: Arkyte, Byboc, Crynd, and Dryx. They immediately engage the heroes, proclaiming them as worthy opponents, finally giving the aliens a challenge before they destroy our heroes.
The fight is short, but fierce. Three of the four aliens are killed in the battle, and afterwards, the small spaceship that brought them was located. The team decided that there was nothing more they could do, so they contacted Olivia back at the base, hoping that there was some secretive government agency that would take care of the mess. Luckily she did have a contact that she had never used, and soon after the call, helmeted soldiers and mysterious men in dark suits showed up in their black helicopters, securing the site. A cover story was quickly constructed for the deaths and the presence of the Rose City Five, and the team came home, not sure if it was a job well done or not.
